Known Unknown

2025  audio piece with digital installation 13’58”
KNOWN UNKNOWN is a political art installation examining the continuity of right-wing violence in Germany and the failure of state institutions in the NSU case. The 14-minute audiovisual work, developed over one and a half years of research, combines documentary archives, narrative text, and digital visualization.

The sound piece centers on the perspectives of survivors and relatives, exposing gaps in the official investigation and naming those who contributed to the NSU’s existence—through action, complicity, or institutional neglect. Guided by a narrator, it intertwines testimonies and archival material, inviting listeners to form their own understanding.

Alongside it, a digital 3D installation visualizes the NSU’s support network as an abstract, multidimensional web—revealing the extensive system of neo-Nazi structures, informants, state agencies, and societal indifference that sustained it.

Together, the sound and visual components form a complete narrative: the network begins to speak once given a voice. KNOWN UNKNOWN rejects the idea of closure. Instead, it calls for active engagement through the interplay of voice, silence, space, and visualization.
